Description
Economic Science considers itself a value-free science that aims to imitate the natural sciences (esp. physics) in their axiomatic mathematized approach and objectivity. In political debates, what “the economy” demands is considered absolute, a purpose in itself. In my presentation, I will demonstrate the value-ladenness of mainstream economic science, the philosophy of science behind it, what kind of policies it leads to, present alternative approaches on what the economy is and should be and critical perspectives on how it relates to nature, reproduction and human needs. I will end with a presentation of the Network Plural Economics.

Moritz Schulz: Mo Schulz is a student of the Master’s Program Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy at the Vienna University of Economics and Business). He’s interested in Philosophy of Science, Political Theory and Social-Ecological Transformation. He’s a current board member of the Network Plural Economics.
